Most propositions, however, are more complex than this classification suggests, for subjects and predicates need not be simple. In the proposition “God who is invisible created the world which is visible”, both the subject and predicate include subordinate clauses that appear to contain propositions (II.5–8). Because of the overall subject-predicate structure of all propositions, embedded propositions must be located in the subject or predicate. Because propositions can be complex, so can syllog
