Stabilization cannot be taken for granted. For other assertions \(\varphi\), iterated upgrades \(\Uparrow\varphi\) can lead to oscillating or divergent plausibility orders. However, this divergence is limited. While cycles can occur for conditional beliefs, every truthful iterated sequence of radical upgrades eventually stabilizes all propositional beliefs (Baltag & Smets 2009).
