Robert Dahl (1915–2014) was an American political scientist and democratic theorist at Yale University, widely regarded as one of the most influential political thinkers of the 20th century. He is best known for developing the concept of 'polyarchy' to describe real-world democratic systems and for his pluralist theory of power distribution in democratic societies.
